Bengaluru, Nov 18: BJP candidate K Narayan on Wednesday filed his nomination papers for the December 1 by-election to the Rajya Sabha seat.
The seat fell vacant following the demise of Ashok Gasti who died after contracting COVID-19.
Narayan, a Mangaluru-based businessman, was accompanied by BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel, Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development K S Eshwarappa, Minister for Horticulture Narayna Gowda, among others.
Narayan belongs to the Devanga community and he has been a party worker for the last five decades.
Wednesday is the last day for filing nominations. With no other candidate in the fray, Narayan is expected to be elected unopposed. Congress is not fielding candidates due to lack of numbers required.
