Mangaluru, Feb 28: A fortnight after the coldblooded murder of history sheeter Kalia Rafiq at Kotekar in Mangaluru taluk, the city police have managed to arrest three accused.

The arrested have been identified as persons are Noor Ali (36), a resident of Uppala, Kasargod district, T S Rasheed (30), a resident of Rajapuram, Hosadurga, Kasargod district and Husainabba (35), a resident of Siddakatte, Bantwal taluk.
Police have also recovered a country-made pistol, a car and lethal weapons used for the crime from their possession.
It is learnt that the accused murdered Rafiq to avenge Noor Ali’s brother Muthalib's murder. Muthalib, a former associate of Rafiq, was killed by the latter after he was fallen out with him a few years ago.
35-year-old Rafiq, who was murdered in the intervening night of February 14 and 15, was involved dozens of criminal cases across coastal Karnataka and Kerala.
The accused followed three steps to kill Kalia Rafiq. First they rammed their mini lorry against his car near a petrol bunk at Kotekar under the limits of Ullal police station When he escaped and began to run, they gunned him down. Later, they alighted from the lorry and attacked him with a sword.
