A true spirit of condolence offered to Dr V S Acharya in Dubai

Dubai, February 23: In spite of the busy work schedule many Kannadigas gathered in great numbers at Winny’s Restaurant, Karama, Dubai on February 19 at 7:30 pm. The call was given by Nama Tuluveru UAE to offer a true condolence to former Karnataka minister Dr. V. S. Acharya, who passed away on February 14.

People from various communities of Karnataka assembled together to show their love and respect to the deceased and that too well ahead of the time. A large portrait of Dr. V.S. Acharya with garland was placed on the table with lighted lamp.

Shodhan Prasad welcomed all the Kannadigas and a one minute silent prayer in standing was observed. A power point presentation titled ‘Dr. V.S. Acharya - 1939 to 2012’ which was prepared and shown as a tribute to this great personality. Soon after the presentation there were speakers who voluntarily came forward and expressed their feelings and shared some of their important moments of yesteryears they had with late Acharya.

Ex-President of Karnataka Sangha Dubai and Editor in Chief of Gulf Kannadiga, B.G. Mohandas was the first speaker followed by Senior Executive of Beary’s Cultural Forumn, M E Moolur, President of Mogaveers UAE, L.V. Puthran, President of Kannada Koota, Basawaraj Salimath along with Ex-President, Eeranna Moolimane, President of Dakshina Kannada & Kodagu Gowda Sangha, Harish Kodi, Ex-President of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, B.K. Ganesh Rai, President of Vishwakarma Seva Samiti, Rajendra Pejavar, Managing Director of Radio Spice 105.4 FM, Herman Lewis, close relatives of Dr. Acharya, Srinivas Achar of Higher Colleges of Technology & Chartered Accountant, Raghavendra Achar who shared beautiful moments in various occasions they had with the great man. In summary it was Dr. Acharya’s simplicity, honest, clean hearted, solution based approach, pragmatism & broadmindedness which were highlighted by all the speakers assembled in the condolence meet.

Other community leaders present were President of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, Satish Poojary, Chief Co-ordinator of Bunts Dubai, Sudhakar Alva, President of Dwani Pratishtana, Prakash Payyar, President of Gammath Kalavideru, Vasu Shetty, Vishwanath Shetty, President of Ramakshatriya Sangha, Sundeep Rao, Vice President of Mogaveers UAE, Bala Salian, Executive Members of Amchigele Samaj, Narayana Seva Samiti, Bunts Dubai, Billawas Dubai & N.E, Devadiga Sangha including Purushottam Salian, Ananad Bailoor, Prabhakar Suvarna, Jagannath Bellare, Dinesh Sanil, Alwyn Pinto who are all active members of Nama Tuluveru UAE.

Ajman: Ashok Bai Baria (44), a resident of Valsad - Ahmedabad, succumbed to a heart attack in Ajman. 

The incident occurred on March 13 morning at his residence, following which he experienced severe physical distress leading to the fatal cardiac arrest. 

Fishing has been a longstanding activity in Ajman- UAE, with Baria being actively involved in the profession for many years. 

Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services in the UAE, has informed that all necessary arrangements are underway to repatriate the deceased's body to his hometown.
