Bantwal, Jul 12: A team of revenue officials accompanied by the local police raided a house in Bantwal yesterday wherein an unauthorised Aadhaar updation and correction centre was being operated.
Two persons identified as Francis Prashant and Prakash were running the unauthorized centre in the house of Haroon Rashid, general secretary of Janata Dal (Secular) district minority cell.
The police said that on a tip-off the team headed by Bantwal Tahsildar Purandhara Hegde raided the house but did not find any instance of creation of fake Aadhaar cards at the centre.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar said the E-Governance Department had permitted Mr. Prashant to run the Aadhaar correction centre at a building of gram panchayat in Kadaba. Mr. Prashant had violated norms by running the centre in Bantwal. E-Governance Department will be asked to hold an inquiry into the case, he said.
