Nimbalkar transferred in six months; Chakravarthy back as Western Range IGP

Mangaluru, Feb 9: Within six months after he took charge, Hemanth Nimbalkar, Inspector-General of Police, Western Range, has been transferred as IGP, Criminal Investigation Department, Economic Offences, Bengaluru. He took charge here on August 16, 2017.

The State government has transferred back J. Arun Chakravarthy, IGP, Internal Security Division, Bengaluru, in the place of Mr. Nimbalkar. Mr. Chakravarthy was the IGP of the Western Range for about seven months from May 30, 2016 to January 6, 2017.

Earlier, Mr. Chakravarthy had been replaced with P. Harishekaran, who served as the IGP, Western Range, for about seven-and-a-half months. Mr. Nimbalkar had replaced Mr. Harishekaran.

Right-wing activists had set the car of Mr. Nimbalkar ablaze and attacked his driver during a protest in Kumta in Uttara Kannada following the death of Paresh Kamlakar Mesta, a Sangh Parivar activist, in Honnavar in December last.
