Mangaluru, Sep 21: For past twelve days the family members, colleagues and friends of Abubacker Padubidri, a non-resident Indian from Udupi district of Karnataka, have been anxiously waiting for any positive news about him, as the Mangaluru City Police have failed to make any headway in the mysterious missing case.

48-year-old Abubacker, who had come from Saudi Arabia to his homeland, had gone missing on September 10 from Mangaluru. Rumours have been doing rounds that Abubacker had left for Kerala from Mangaluru through a train. However, the family members and police are still clueless whether he was kidnapped by miscreants are went somewhere on his own.
Abubacker, a supervisor at the Al-Sadhan Hyper Market in Riyadh, had come home with his wife and children in August on a short vacation. He was staying in the house of his brother-in-law Ismail in Jokatte in Mangaluru taluk.
On September 10, he left for Mangaluru city reportedly to reschedule his return ticket Saudi Arabia. He was supposed to report for work before Eid-ul-Adha. However, he had planned to extend the vacation for a few days and celebrate the festival in India.
According his family sources, Abubacker contacted his wife over phone around 2 p.m. from Mangaluru and told her that he would go to Padubidri to see his mother and other family members and then come back. But, he neither visited his mother's home at Padubidri nor returned to Jokatte.
The family members started searching for him after finding that his mobile phone had been switched off. Ismail filed a missing compliant with Panambur police the next day.
In an appeal, P A Mohiuddin, an inspector in Border Security Forces, who is also a relative of missing person, has urged the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner M Chandra Sekhar to look into the matter personally and take necessary steps to exacerbate the search operation.
“His wife and children are now completely shattered lots. Now the onus to trace him out rests with the police,” he said while expressing concern that police could not gather any information about the missing person after his disappearance.
