Udupi, Sep 18: The Court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate extended the CID custody of Niranjan Bhat, one of the main accused in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case till September 19.

The court extended the CID custody of Niranjan Bhat, a priest, by two days till Monday. The court also accepted the plea of the counsel for the accused that the accused should be provided with adequate medical facilities during custody as Bhat was a diabetic.
Meanwhile, Srinivas Bhat and Raghavendra, two other accused charged with destruction of evidence, moved a bail application at the District and Sessions Court on Saturday. But the public prosecutor sought time for filing objections till September 24, for filing objections, which was granted by the court.
Bhaskar Shetty, an NRI businessman, went missing from his house here on July 28, and his mother Gulabi Shetty lodged a missing complaint at the Manipal police station on July 29.
The police arrested his wife, Rajeshwari (46), and his son, Navneet (24), on the charge of murdering Bhaskar Shetty and destroying evidence, here on August 7.
