Kalaburgi, Oct 29: A herd of sheep and goats was mowed down by a train near Sedam town in Kalaburagi under Central Railway limits on Sunday evening.

According to information reaching here, more than 100 goats and sheep were crossing the railway line when the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express mowed them down in the evening.
Eye witnesses said that five shepherds were grazing hundreds of sheep at Rehmath Nagar area on the outskirts of Sedam town.
“As sheep were crossing track, over 100 of them were ran over by the train at 4pm” they added.
All sheep belong to Mareppa, Ambalappa, Halyalappa and Beerappa Pujari, residents of Rastapur village in Shahapur taluk in Yadagiri district. They had left their village a month ago and were moving towards Sedam by grazing sheep.
Sedam CPI Shankaragouda Patil and other police officials visited the spot. Wadi government railway police have registered a case.
