Mangaluru, Dec 23: Conveying the message of peace and goodwill on the occasion of Christmas, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza called on people to cultivate the virtues of patience, forgiveness and compassion and to maintain peace and harmony in the society.

The Bishop expressed his deep anguish and sorrow for the children who became the victims of terrorists in Peshawar in Pakistan and prayed that God would grant strength and courage to the parents and dear ones of those who were killed in the terrorist attack.
On the occasion of Christmas season, he said that the Christmas festival was not confined to a single community. The celebration of Christmas becomes more meaningful when all join together in the celebration. Let this feast be a festival to all, he proclaimed.
He called on all citizens to commit and maintain peace in the city, so that the city of Mangaluru could regain its place of peaceful co-existence in the world. œThe beautiful city of Mangaluru which was once known for its peace and unity is not turning into a place of violence, communal disharmony and constant fights. Let all the government officials, local elected representatives and administrators at all levels put their efforts to end this disharmony, said the Bishop.
Vicar General of Mangaluru Diocese Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, Fr William Menezes, Marcel Monteiro, Diocesan general secretary M P Noronha, E Fernandes, Raymond D'Cunha and others were present during the press conference.
