Udupi, Oct 26: In a Vishvesha Tirtha Swami, the chief pontiff of the Pejawar Mutt has praised the governance of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and urged the Congress High Command to make Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G. Parameshwara the Deputy Chief Minister to appease Dalits.

“Let Siddaramaiah complete his term as Chief Minister as his governance is good. Let M. Mallikarjun Kharge (Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha) better continue in national politics. In my opinion, KPCC president (Dr) Parameshwara should be made Deputy Chief Minister and Dalits would be happy to see him playing an important role in the government,” he said.
Referring to the rape charge against Raghaveshwara Bharati Swami of Ramachandrapura Mutt, the Pejavar seer said that the government should come out with the facts.
“The swamiji (Raghaveshwara Bharati Swami) is arguing that he is innocent and has not done anything wrong. Considering the severity of the charge, the government should conduct a proper investigation and come out with the truth. Till the court decides the issue, the swamiji need not step down from his position,” he said.
The Pejavar seer condemned the arrest of Vidyamanohara Tirtha Swamiji, his mother and a disciple in the case of a theft of a silver chariot at the Sosale Mutt.
“The arrests have hurt the feelings of the devotees of the mutt. The police should have conducted an investigation and only after confirming, with substantial evidence, the involvement of the accused, taken them into custody,” he said.
When asked, the Pejavar seer said that writers and intellectuals deciding to return their awards and quit their positions in protest against killing of writers, scholars and intellectuals was their individual choice.
