Mangalore, Dec 11: The Popular Front of India (PFI) is responsible for the recent attack on a journalist at Vittla on the outskirts of the city, said Dakshina Kannada unit of People's Union for Civil Liberties.

The five-page report produced by the committee pointed out that journalist V.T. Prasad, the victim, had managed to collect nearly Rs. 1 lakh worth of wood from a Muslim donor for the benefit of a family and this could have embarrassed the group.
Mr. D'Sa said that PUCL report found that the molestation charge against Mr. Prasad was not convincing. He said some persons associated with “sand and timber mafia” were part of the group that had attacked Mr. Prasad.
He also demanded a high level probe into the incident.
It could be recalled here that Mr Prasad was brutally attacked by a group of people on November 27
