Chamarajanagar, Apr 5: A day after the ruthless crackdown on Popular Front of India’s protest against alleged police atrocity in Mangaluru, two prominent politicians from the city called on chief minister Siddaramiah and the brought the issue to his notice.

U T Khader, minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs, who represents Mangaluru constituency in Karnataka Assembly, said that he and Mohiuddin Bava, Manaluru North MLA, discussed the issue with the CM during the latter’s visit to Chamarajanagar for election campaign on Wednesday.
A delegation of Muslim leaders of Congress from Dakshina Kannada including district minority unit president of the party N S Kareem and taluk panchayat president Monu also accompanied the duo. The delegation urged the CM to take necessary action against the guilty.
On Tuesday PFI activists were canned while protesting in front of Mangaluru City Police Commissioner’s office against alleged police atrocity on a Muslim youth, identified as Ahmed Qureshi from Katipalla, who was arrested in connection with a murder attempt case. The youth is in a critical condition.
Mr Khader said that the CM expressed concern over the development and assured take necessary action against the concerned police officers if they had committed human rights violation under the pretext of interrogation. Mr Khader said that he has discussed the issue with home minister G Parameshwara too.
