Kundapur, Jun 6: With the arrest of three persons here on Thursday, Kundapur police solved the theft of ancient idols from a Jain temple near Brahmavar nearly a year ago.

The idols were stolen from Mahaveer Jain Basadi located at Mogaveerapatna at Kokkarne near Brahmavar.
The gang had stolen Jain antique idols by barging into Mahaveer Jain Basadi at Mogaveerapatna near Brahmavar in 2013. The actual value of the stolen idols can be ascertained only by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) as the idols are ancient.
Police sources said that Ashok Mogaveera had hatched the plan to loot the idols with the help of his friends.
As per the plan, the miscreants had hidden the stolen in a forest near accused Ravi's house. As everything went as per the pan of the thieves, the theft had not come to light initially. However, the thieves failed to smuggle the stolen idols out of the forest.
Police said that on Thursday the accused were suspiciously lingering around in Kundapur. When the police took them to custody and questioned, the miscreants revealed the truth.
Later the idols were recovered from the forest by the police. Further investigations are on.
