Cong MLA N A Haris owns assets worth nearly Rs 2 billion

Bengaluru, Apr 25: N A Haris, the sitting Congress MLA from Shantinagar in Bengaluru, who earlier this week filed his nomination papers for May 12 Karnataka assembly polls has declared his assets as Rs 190.32 crore, a mere Rs 4.51 crore increase from the assets declared in 2013.

Haris’ assets and liabilities have shown increases. His assets in 2013 were Rs 185.81 crore. His current liabilities are Rs 9.20 crore, while in 2013 they were valued at Rs 3.53 crore.

While he included son Nalapad Mohammed Haris as a dependent in 2013, he dropped him from the list this year as he is married. Haris has declared his wife Thahira Haris, second son Nalapad Omar Farook Haris and two daughters Nalapad Ayesha Haris and Nalapad Suraiya Haris as his dependents.

He revealed cash in hand to be Rs 19,16,000, besides which he declared 1,487.603 grams of gold, 109.905 grams of rubies and diamonds in his name. Haris also declared 2,518.182 grams gold, besides 75.828 grams rubies and diamonds in his wife’s name.

He has also declared properties in Tarabanahalli, Kasargod, Thalassery, Boodigere, Voderapura, HAL, Begur Nagasandra, Challaghatta and Sakleshpura. Among other properties he declared are flats in Bangalore Brigade Gateway, Bangalore-Brigade Metropolis, Bangalore-Prestige Notting Hill and a flat in Andheri, Mumbai.
