Announcing this at a press conference here on Monday, he said that Modi ought to contest from the constituency of Dakshina Kannada instead of aiming to contest from the constituency of Varanasi where Murali Manohar Joshi was the sitting MP.
Addressing Modi in the first person, he said, “When you addressed the crowd in Mangalore at Nehru Maidan recently, you spoke of defeating the Congress. If you are confident of winning, contest the elections from Dakshina Kannada,” he challenged Modi.
He said that the people of the district would show their disapproval towards Modi with their votes.
Modi 's personal life questioned
Targeting his personal life, Mr Poojary questioned Modi on the silence regarding his estranged wife. He said that Modi had forsaken his wife and forgotten his pati-dharma. Although marriage is a lawful act, Modi is not ready to accept his marriage, thus proving his unworthiness to become the prime minister of the country. This shows the character of the person, he said.
Posing a question to Modi, he demanded to know how he would protect the country when he could not provide security to his wife. It is not un-parliamentary to say that one is married, he pointed.
He said that Modi should give in writing to the Parliament about his marital status and whereabouts of his wife, reminding that it should be mentioned in the affidavit in the nomination papers, failing which he would be disqualified from becoming the PM.
Nethravati river diversion will not be allowed '
When asked on how he planned to stop the Nethravati river diversion project from being implemented in Karnataka, Mr Poojary reiterated his stand that he would not allow the project to be implemented at any cost.
The people of DK have made their feelings clear towards the project by their whole-hearted support in a self-declared bandh. The government cannot implement a project if the people of the region are against it, he said, adding that there were several alternatives to resolve the issue.
