Mangaluru, Oct 16: Seeking divine intervention to stop Yettinahole water diversion project Congress veteran B Janardhan Poojary on Friday offered special pooja and Urulu Seve at Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Temple, Kudroli.

Accompanied by other authorities of the temple, he also prayed for rain in parched areas of Karnataka including coastal districts.
78-year-old Poojary looked tired after he completed one round of Urulu Seve.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that rain of mercy from God is need of the hour as many parts of Karnataka is facing acute shortage of water due to lack of rains. He said that coastal Karnataka too facing shortage of rains.
He said that Yettinahole project cannot be a solution for the shortage of water in parched districts of Karnataka.
The diversion of river water will not only affect the people of coastal Karnataka but it will be an assault on the nature.
If the project was fully implemented coastal districts of Karnataka, especially Mangaluru will be hit by draught, he said requesting the devotees to pray in the temple and other religious centres against the materialisation of the project.
