Kasaragod, Sep 20: The Ernakulam-Angamaly Archdiocese of the Syro-Malabar Church has dropped inhibitions about open discussions on young people falling in love and is taking a call on the issue by having a thorough discussion and garnering of opinion, which will culminate in an official stance by the Archdiocese.

Should the Church encourage just, equitable, responsible, un-exploitative, and healthy love is the question we will discuss, says Fr. Kallely.
A press release from the Archdiocese says that increasing instances of pre-married people falling in love had become a threat to the institution of the family.
In many cases the so-called love affairs end up as superfluous infatuations. It is important that healthy love is encouraged, it said.
What are the challenges faced by healthy and responsible love, one of the most important questions that will come up for discussions at various levels.
The theme will get a thorough airing through zonal and regional discussions, getting under way on September 21 and culminating in December with the summit meet, which will be attended by around 2,000 married couples and has been named Grace Ripples Couples’ Conference.
The results of the discussions at the local level would be evaluated at a meeting at Renewal Centre, Kaloor, on October 15.
Experts on sociology, family, and psychology will be among the participants, says the press release.
