Kasaragod, Dec 15: A 26-year-old Indian woman and her child were killed in a tragic road accident on Saturday, while the husband is hospitalised in Sharjah.
According to reports their car was hit from behind while they were returning to their home in Al Aweer after shopping in Sharjah.
Shaniba Rijad (26), who was pregnant, was sitting behind along with their three-year-old daughter Shiza, while her husband Narangoli Rijad, 34, was driving.
All three were rushed to Al Rashid Hospital, where Shaniba succumbed to her injuries about four hours later, while the little girl died on Sunday. Narangoli Rijad is recuperating in hospital.
Rijad is a businessman who has mobile phone shops in Dubai and Umm Al Quwain.
While Shaniba was buried in Al Quoz cemetery, procedures are on for the burial of the child. Shaniba, who was five months pregnant, hailed from Calicut in Kerala. Her family, including mom and her siblings are based in Dubai.
