
Kochi, Nov 6:The main accused in Kerala professor hand chopping case surrendered before a court in Kochi on Friday.
The man identified as M K Nazer was absconding since 2010 when a college professor's right hand was chopped off after he insulted Prophet Muhammed in a question paper that he had set.
Nazer, who has been named as the prime conspirator in the case by police, surrendered before National Investigating Agency (NIA) court.
In May, this year, the NIA trial court in Kochi had sentenced 10 accused persons to eight years of imprisonment and three others to two years of imprisonment.
According to police, Nazer and other convicted persons were activists of the right-wing Muslim outfit Popular Front of India (PFI). The court had acquitted 18 others for lack of evidence.
Professor TJ Jospeh's right hand was chopped off by a few men on July 4, 2010 after he insulted Prophet Muhammad in a question paper for an internal exam at Newman College, Thodupuzha.
