Mangaluru, Dec 31: Criticizing the incumbent BJP government's policies such as its'Make In India' campaign which attempts to enforce the inflow of FDI in the country, Member of Parliament from Kannur and CPI (M) central committee member P K Sreemathi Teacher challenged the national party and right-wing organisations RSS and VHP to provide employment to the labour classes and unemployed sector with'Work In India'.
Delivering her inaugural address in Malayalam at the public meeting organised as part of the 21st CPI(M) Dakshina Kannada district conference at Nehru Maidan here on Tuesday, she said that'Make In India' campaign would serve no purpose and would not benefit the country's economy. By trying to appease the corporate giants, the incumbent BJP government is completely sidelining the masses and their needs, she said, adding that the national party had actively begun to engage in sowing seeds of communal hatred among electorates to divide the masses on communal lines.
œFrom the past 65 years, the problems of common citizens have gone unsolved by Congress as well as BJP. Both the former UPA and NDA governments failed to provide facilities for the female population and empower them. Neither the Congress nor the BJP have been able to protect the country and interests of the people. While the Congress sold the country's wealth and resources to corporate instead of utilising them for the welfare of the poor, the BJP has started showing its true colours after coming to power at the centre.
After turning back on the anti-corruption policies it had propagated prior to elections, the BJP has also neglected to keep its promise of bringing back all the black money from foreign accounts, she said.
Former MLA and CPI(M) state secretary G V Sreerama Reddy said that the neo-liberalism and fascism propagated by the present BJP government at the centre posed a threat to the country. Whereas the state government has neither goal nor conviction. Besides failing in ushering in growth, the Congress-led state government has miserably failed to contain communalism, he said.
CPI(M) leader V J K Nair, K R Shreeyan, J Balakrishna Shetty, Vasanth Achari, Sunil Kumar Bajal and others participated in the meeting.
Prior to the public meeting at Nehru Maidan, the party workers undertook a mass procession rally from Ambedkar Circle to the venue of the meeting.
