Puttur: Engineering girl dies as scooter rams median on her way to college

Puttur, Oct 25: In a heartrending tragedy, a young engineering student lost her life after her two-wheeler met with an accident in Puttur on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Mariam Samreena, daughter of Hassainar Haji, owner of City Bazaar at Puttur. She was a first year student of Sahyadri College of Engineering.

According to sources, Samreena lost her control over her Honda Activa at Darbe in Puttur and rammed into the road median. She was thrown off the scooter and suffered severe injuries. She breathed her last while being taken to hospital.

Samreena was on her way to Puttur bus stand to board a bus to go to college. Though she was suffering from severe fever, she hesitated to take off fearing attendance shortage. Every day she used to ride her scooter till the bus stand and then used to travel by bus.

A case has been registered at Puttur traffic police station.
