Mangalore, Jun 10: Senior Congress leader from Mangalore P V Mohan has urged All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi to hold a special meeting of AICC within a period of three months after the recent Lok Sabha polls.

“It is customary and an escape route for many to blame the central leadership for their own failures at the local levels, without realizing that the party 's lapse was at the ground level where the party workers did not connect with the people. In addition, there was also a belief that the party will never be rejected by the people because of the two successive elections where the people reposed faith in the Indian National Congress,” Mr Mohan, who is also an AICC member.
The further said: “large number of party workers believed that the welfare schemes and the laws and legislations done by the Government of India under your guidance and the leadership of Manmohan Singh. Much more than all these, our party workers had faith in the leadership of Rahul Gandhi without understanding their responsibility to help him at the ground level.”
“It will be appropriate to call a special AICC meeting as early as possible to discuss how grassroots level building of the party could be done, both for generating new ideas to grow at the grassroots level and also discover ways and means of enhancing the morale of the party workers by clarifying certain confusions that prevail,” he added.
