Bengaluru, Oct 1: Raghaveshwara Bharathi, the seer of Hosanagara-headquartered Ramachandrapura Mutt, who faces rape charges, did not turn up for medical examination on Wednesday.
A senior official from the CID said that the seer was asked to undergo three tests each in the two rape cases registered against him.
A team of doctors at Victoria Hospital waited for him till 1 pm, but he did not turn up. A representative from the Mutt handed over the seer’s letter to the investigating officer in CID. The letter said that since his petition before the High Court challenging the CID notice was pending, the seer would not appear for the tests. Sources said the seer was engaged in rituals at the Mutt’s Girinagar branch since 6 am.
A CID?official said that as per the conditions of the anticipatory bail granted to the pontiff in the first case, he was to co-operate in the investigation. The team of doctors has sent a report to the CID?saying that the seer remained absent for the tests.
“We will take a legal opinion and decide on the next legal step,'' the official said.
