Mangalore, May 24: A city based recruiting agency which had been collecting lakhs of rupees from job aspirants looking for vacancies in overseas, has now allegedly duped to the tune of Rs 1.12 crore.

On Thursday, as many as 56 nursing graduates have filed a complaint with the jurisdictional Barke police accusing the “recruiters” of collecting Rs 1.12 crore from them promising nursing jobs in Singapore before disappearing all of a sudden. The complaint was filed against DHRC Manager Pradeep Kumar, Praveen and Muhammadali, who were in-charge of recruitment.
In the complaint, the nursing graduates allege that they had given Rs two lakh each to the firm in two installments. The majority of the victims are from Kerala, and many of them are currently working as BSc as well as GNM nurses in Kerala, Karnataka and other states. All 56 have given Rs one lakh each at the beginning.
Two weeks back, the job Visa was sent to them via e-mail and when they again visited the firm with certificates and other documents, second instalment was handed over to the firm.
The candidates were told that they were to attend a test on May 28 in Singapore before taking up the job. Sensing something fishy about the firm, some of the candidates reached the office on May 21. But the trio—Pradeep, Praveen, Muhammadali-- were not there and the office staff, who are locals said that their mobile phones were switched off.
The candidates allege that, this time, the Waves India also colluded with DHRC in cheating them.
It has been suspected that the real amount which the firm swindled off would be much larger.
It is learnt that DHRC had been conducting recruitment showing the license of another agency, Waves India, located at Thiruvalla in Kerala. But Waves India has now said that they have no link with DHRC.
