Mangaluru, Jan 9: Mangaluru North MLA B A Mohiuddin Bawa said that the state government had sanctioned a grant of Rs 1.87 crore which would improve the infrastructure at Government First Grade College at Kavoor such as establishing five additional classrooms and toilets for students.
Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, he said that the college authorities were planning on commencing additional courses once the classrooms were ready. The college had been languishing without basic infrastructure for a long period, he said, adding that the students could thereafter pursue their degree education in the college at a lower fee structure.
He said that the college hoped to attract more students with improvement in infrastructure facilities.
He said that Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited (KIOCL) had agreed to reconstruct a new building for the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School at Thannirbhavi at a cost of Rs 25 lakh as the current building was in a dilapidated state.
