Bantwal, Dec 23: Almost all shops and trades were closed on Tuesday at Madantyar, Punjalkatte and Ballamanja in Bantwal taluk as Sangh Parivar activists imposed a bandh demanding withdrawal of the case booked against their fellow members who had indulged criminal activities.

On December 19, Sangh Parivar activists waylaid a vehicle allegedly transporting cattle at Surya in Belthangady taluk and attacked the passengers without any provocation.
Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Later, four assailants-all Sangh Parivar activists- were arrested by police.
The arrest of assailants enraged the Sangh Parivar activists, who demanded the police to release them. They alleged that the police have not taken any action against the cattle transporters.
After imposing bandh on Tuesday, hundreds of Sangh Parivar activists took out a protest rally. Addressing the protesters, Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell gave a deadline of two days to the police to release the assailants and arrest alleged cattle transporters.
