Scrap shop gutted in fire at Karangalpady

Mangalore, Jul 2: A major fire broke out in Karangalpady area on Monday night gutting a scrap dealer 's shop.

The shop belonged to one Ibrahim Salim from Ullal in Mangalore taluk.

Though, no casualty was reported in the accident but two adjacent houses were partially damaged.

The fire was so huge that smoke from it covered a large part of the locality.

Fire tenders were rushed to douse the flames. Locals of the area also used water buckets to douse the fire. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Locals said the scrap shop had a huge collection of plastics and papers which might have aggravated the fire.
