Mangaluru, Nov 11: A model of radio frequency identification prepared by Syed Aurangzeb, a student pursuing II PUC at Shree Dharmasthala Manjunatha Pre-university College in Ujire, Dakshina Kannada district, has been selected in the international-level Science model competition organised by IIT-Hyderabad, fetching him a cash prize of Rs 23 lakh.

The radio frequency identification model prepared by Aurangzeb relies on mobile network to function. It can detect the presence of human beings at a particular place. The functioning and reliability of this model is already being researched in AIIMS College in New Delhi.
If properly implemented, this invention can be used to detect the presence of work force in offices and industries, as well as monitor the movement of convicts and undertrials in prison. There is also the possibility of using the invention to monitor domestic animals in households and keep them from straying.
Since the device uses cloud storage technique, up to 1 TB of storage space can be utilised for recording and storing the readings.
The student who prepared the model is the son of D Syed Ali and Nayyara Banu from Belur taluk in Hassan district.
