Mangaluru, Dec 11: As random untoward incidents continue to occur in the coastal district following communal clashes occurred in Ulaibettu sparking unrest in the surrounding areas, innocents bear the brunt of the violence ignited by the communal tension in Mangaluru.

Speaking to Coastaldigest.com, the victim Sayed Wasim said that he was still uncertain why the miscreants chose to attack him.
œI am a seafood (crab) merchant and had arrived only that day in Mangaluru. At around 10 p.m., two men came on a motorbike and attacked me near the docks in Bunder. When they attacked me, I was caught unaware and fell unconscious after they struck me. I do not even know what they struck me with, said Mr Wasim, who bore deep stab wounds when he was brought to the hospital.
Mr Wasim is also at a loss whether or not the intent of the attack was communal in nature and he was attacked because he belonged to Muslim community.
He said that he did not observe enough to identify his attackers. œI have given my statement to the police when I gained consciousness, he said.
Deeply affected by the attack, Mr Wasim is still recuperating from his injuries. He was discharged from the hospital and returned back to Bengaluru.
