Bantwal, Sep 9: Seven members of a family including women and children suffered severe injuries when the car in which they were travelling plunged into a ditch at Veerakamba village in Bantwal taluk on Monday.
The injured have been identified as Irshad (25), Fathima Zohra (30), Umaira (27), Zahida (20), Bibi Sahaba (6), B K Shekabba (65) and Zahid (9), all residents of Kalladka town. All of them were immediately taken to a hospital in Mangalore in another vehicle after the mishap.
The tragedy took place when they were returning home after a pilgrimage to Madavoor Darga in Kerala.
When the car reached Veerakamba the driver lost his control while negotiating a curve. As a result the car veered off the road and landed in a deep gorge. The Qualis has completely damaged in the accident.
