Mysuru/Mandya/Hassan, May 30: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah exercised his franchise for the gram panchayat polls at his native village, Siddarmanahundi, on Friday.

His response to the booth officer, who sought identification card from him, “I am my own identification”, drew bursts of laughter. He also told the official that he hailed from the same village and his name was listed, with picture, in the voter’s list. The official who verified the identity, then allowed the CM to vote. More than 13,300 candidates are in the fray for GP polls in Mysuru district. The district administration put the voters’turnout at 85 per cent. The polling was by and large peaceful.
