
Mangalore, Apr 21: Several articles made of waste material by mentally challenged children such as artificial flowers, cushions, painted flower vases, hand-made jewellery such as earrings, anklets and hairclips, candles in various shapes, hand-made greeting cards, carry bags, pen-holders and ornamental showpieces were displayed in an art and craft exhibition, as part of Saanidhya Utsav and Vision-2014 organised by Shree Ganesha Seva Trust for Exceptional Persons and Saanidhya Residential School and Training Centre for mentally challenged at Kadri Park in the city on Saturday.
At Saanidhya Utsav held at Kadri Park on Sunday, 34 students of Saanidhya performed to Jenu-goodu opera, a cultural song and dance programme, while another set of students beautifully enacted Devi Mahatma – A Yakshagana Bayalata on the stage.
The yakshgana had been directed by Sharath Kumar Kadri, for which the eight students had practiced for seven months.
The valedictory programme of decennial year celebrations of the institution was held in the park on Saturday.
