Bengaluru, Nov 19: A 36-year-old business analyst with a private firm was arrested after he allegedly stabbed a 22-year-old auto-rickshaw driver and latter’s father and mother.
The accused Antony Anand Kumar, a resident of Byrathi, who suspected that his wife Sneha had an affair with Bharat, 22, staying in Kothanur, committed the crime which resulted in the death of latter’s mother Savithramma, 45. Bharat and his father are recovering at a hospital. Both families lived in the same neighbourhood and were known to each other.
On Saturday night, the couple started arguing, after which Sneha called Bharat and his parents over to the house to clear the air. However, during argument Antony lost his cool and he attacked the trio with a kitchen knife. Savithramma, who Kumar stabbed on the chest, died on the spot, while Sannappa and Bharath sustained multiple stab wounds.
Sneha’s loud cries alerted the neighbours, who rushed the three victims to hospital, where Savithramma was declared brought dead. Sannappa and Bharath were admitted for treatment.
The Kothanur police arrested Antony, who tried to escape. He told the police that Bharath’s affair with his wife prompted him to attack the family. Preliminary investigations revealed that Sneha was hiring Bharath’s auto for commute. The police, who booked Antony for murder and attempt to murder, produced him before the magistrate.
He was remanded to judicial custody. The police are yet to record the Sannappa’s and Bharat’s statements as they were still in hospital.
