“He was driving carefully. He was also talking to Junaid (who was also killed). When our vehicle reached Kamplapur near Periyapatna an oncoming truck transporting LPG cylinders rammed into it,” says injured Muhammad, who is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mangalore.
Breadwinner
Driver Sharafuddin was the breadwinner of his family. He is second among three sons and two daughters of Khasim-Rukiya couple from Maindala-Saragudde, of Navuru village in Bantwal Taluk.
After completing ninth standard Sharafuddin discontinued his studies and began to work in order to help his poor parents. He became a car driver. For last one year he was working as a driver of a Mangalore based tempo traveller driver. One of his sisters was recently married. Sharafuddin's family was building a new house and the construction was not yet completed to financial problems.
The family members where shell-shocked, when they heard about the accident on Wednesday morning. Relatives Muhammad Ali and Sulaiman had been to Periyapatna to bring the mortal remains of Sharafuddin.
Sharafuddin had spoke to his elder brother on Reaching Mysore while returning from Tamil Nadu trip.
