Hubballi, Oct 18: A group of miscreants from Sangh Parivar intercepted a vehicle transporting cattle and brutally beat up the driver near Kittur Chennamma Circle in Hubballi on Saturday night.

According to sources, a group of miscreants, said to be Bajrang Dal activists, intercepted the transport vehicle that was carrying cattle allegedly to a slaughterhouse.
They pulled the driver out of the vehicle and beat him up.
As the news spread, a mob rushed to the location, threw stones indiscriminately forcing the trouble mongers to flee. Shekhar, a cameraman of a private news channel, who was covering the incident, was manhandled and beaten up by unidentified persons.
Soon, the police intervened and tried to control the situation by dispersing the crowd.
The transport vehicle was also removed from the location.
Both the driver of the vehicle and Shekhar are admitted at KIMS Hospital. A huge posse of police personnel has been deployed at Kittur Chennamma Circle.
Senior police officials visited the spot and took stock of the situation. They said that the situation was under control now.
Following the incident, shops and commercial establishments around the busy traffic junction closed down immediately.
