Mangalore, Apr 20: More than 10,000 people bid a tearful farewell to slain Kabeer who was gunned down by Anti Naxal Force near Sringeri.
His body was brought to his residence at Krishnapur after post mortem around 7 pm. And the burial took place in the night.
The scene at the burial place was emotional as mourning family members wept and comforted each other and friends paid their respects to the departed soul.
Krishnapur, Katipalla and surrounding areas came to a standstill as shopkeepers downed shutters and people poured out on streets to catch that one last glimpse of Kabeer.
The family members of Kabeer were inconsolable.
Kabeer's anguished father, Idinabba, broke into tears on seeing his son's body.
Tears welled up in eyes as the body was laid to rest.
Mangalore North MLA Mohiuddin Bava had a tough time pacifying the agitated residents. Mr Bava had a long discussion with residents at Chokkabettu Circle giving details of actions taken by him following the firing and the attack. “I am with you all. I have taken up the issue with Chief Minister and Director General and Inspector General of Police. Do not loss cool, maintain peace,” Mr Bava told the agitated group. He said the same thing to another group that had assembled near the house of Kabir in Krishnapura.
