Mysuru, Nov 15: Veteran Kannada novelist S L Bhyrappa suggested that Tamil Nadu government should extended its support and help the Karnataka in rebuilding flood ravaged Kodagu district.
In a letter to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, he has asked him to talk to his counterpart in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Yedapadi K Palaniswamy to help in reconstruction of Kodagu district.
According to him, Tamil Nadu religiously uses Cauvery water and the river’s origin is in Kodagu. “If that is the case, why should not Tamil Nadu help Karnataka in rebuilding Kodagu? the veteran novelist questioned.
BEML employees donate Rs 1 cr
Bengaluru: Public Sector BEML on Thursday contributed Rs 1 crore towards Karnataka Chief Minister's Relief Fund for rehabilitation of the people of Kodagu deeply affected by heavy rains and landslips, early this year.
This was the contribution from BEML employees and officers who donated their one day salary, according to a press release here on Thursday.
BEML Chairman and Managing Director Deepak Kumar Hota, presented the Cheque to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. Minister for Irrigation and Medical Education D K Shivakumar was present.
