The deceased have been identified as Althaf, Irshad and Raishad, the three friends from Kayyur Merkala. All three were 19-year-old and they were employed in different towns.
The tragedy occurred when the trio was returning home after attending an exhibition Uppala Nayabazar. They had hired a Passion Pro bike.
It is learnt that the motorbike on which the trio was travelling collided with an oncoming motorbike, on which a couple was travelling along with a baby. The impact of the accident was such that all six from both motorbikes were thrown to the road.
At the same time, a speeding goods lorry coming from Mangalore ran over the three youths within a few seconds.
Mohamed Kasim (38), a resident of Uppala, his wife Nilofer (30) and their daughter, who were on the other motorbike sustained severe injuries in the accident. However, they escaped from the lorry.
The bodies of the deceased were handed over to the family members after conducting post mortem at Kasargod general hospital.
