Bantwal, Feb 7: Amidst the increased tension in coastal Karnataka following a series of untoward incidents in Ullal and surrounding areas, a group of miscreants attempted to disturb peace in Kalladka on Thursday night.
The miscreants, suspected to be the activists of a communal group, threw bottles at a parked car in Kalladka upper town.
Haris, a local resident, ha parked his car at the road side. The miscreants damaged the car by throwing bottles.
Soon after the incident, police forced the shop keepers in the area to shut down their shops and go home. This led to the rumours of communal riot in Kalladka.

Prior to this incident, two motorbike borne miscreants on Wednesday night had pelted stones at a private bus in Melkar.
