Mangaluru, Jul 15: The Tulu, Konkani and Beary linguistic academies of Karnataka will be jointly organising ‘Sangama Sambhrama-2015’, a two-day state-level cultural conference in association with Department of Kannada and Culture in this month.

“Contemporary Crisis and Cultural Response” will be the central theme of the conference scheduled to be held on July 25 and 26 at Cha Fra D'Costa Sangama Kshetra, at Pilikula Nisargadhama, Vamanjoor, on the outskirts of the city.
This was formally announced at a joint press conference organised by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy president B A Mohammed Haneef and Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy president Janaki Brahmavar on Wednesday in the city.
Briefing about the programme, Mr Castelino said, a grand cultural procession will be held on July 25 from Vamanjoor junction to the conference venue at 9:30 a.m. Local elected representatives will also take part in the procession.
As many as 65 scholars from across Karnataka will be attending the conference along with minister for Kannada and culture and women and child development Umashree and other dignitaries on the first day.
Classical music presentation by Karnataka Sangeeta Nritya Academy, Dollina Pada by Karnataka Folk Academy, Moharam Pada Tatwapada and plays by the Karnataka Nataka Academy will be staged on the same day. A variety of cultural events will be held on second day too, he said.
Ms Brahmavar said prior to the conference, there will be three days of preliminary events like painting and sculpture art camps. 'Tulu Isiri' programme will be organised to depict the Tulu culture, 'Konkani Sambhram' and 'Pernal Sandhola' will be held highlighting Konkani and Beary culture respectively, she said.
Mr Haneef said that the event will be part of the activities of these academies to promote the language, culture and literature of the soil.
