Udupi, Jul 30: Udupi District Working Journalists Union (UWJU) submitted a memorandum to Urban Development and Udupi district in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, complaining that the deputy commissioner Dr R Vishal failed to provide necessary information to media persons when required.
The journalists alleged that the deputy commissioner did not provide them with necessary information when asked. He failed to furnish them with essential information even during the time of gram panchayat elections held recently, they claimed.
Although the previously appointed DCs and their counterparts in other districts provided important information to media outlets, Dr Vishal has failed to respond positively in this direction. He should respond positively and furbish information to media persons whenever required, they urged in the memorandum.
The memorandum was also sent to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, information minister Roshan Baig, chief minister's media advisor Dinesh Amin Mattu and Karnataka state working journalists association president Dr N Raju.
While handing over the memorandum, UWJU president Jayakara Suvarna, general secretary Ganesh Prasad, treasurer Rajesh Shetty, sports secretary Nazeer Polya and others were present.
