Udupi: Man who tried to stop fight between two persons stabbed

Udupi, May 6: A youth who tried to prevent two people from quarrelling was brutally stabbed at Shirva in Udupi district on Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as Naveed, a resident of Shirva. His condition is said to be critical.

According to the Shirva police, two persons -- Anthony John D’Souza and Leo D’Mello – were quarrelling with each other, when Naveed tried to intervene and stop the fight.

It is learnt that D’Souza picked up a fight with D’Mello for not allowing former’s catering vehicle to overtake the latter’s vehicle.

When Naveen tried to prevent the duo from fighting, Anthony stabbed him with a knife. Immediately, he was rushed to a private hospital in Manipal, where he is receiving treatment.

Anthony is absconding. A case had been registered investigations were on, the police said.
