Mangalore, Sep 27: In what would have been a major catastrophe, a liquefied petroleum gas cylinder caught fire accidentally at a mini hotel at Ullal, on the outskirts of the city on Friday night.
The incident took place when an employee at A B Hotel located in a thickly populated area of the town, was trying to replace an empty cylinder with the new one.
It is learnt that the faulty valve pad ring of the cylinder was responsible for the mishap.
As soon as the cylinder was caught fire people ran far away fearing that a blast may occur. Fortunately, I did not explode even after burning for nearly half an hour.
The fire brigade and sleuths of Ullal police rushed to the spot and managed to douse the flame.
