Mangaluru, Jul 18: UT Khader, the health and family welfare minister has accused the prime minister Narendra Modi-led union government of failing to respond when Karnataka had raised the issue of farmers in the state.
Addressing media persons in the city on Saturday the minister said that chief minister Siddaramaiah led government was making all possible efforts to address the problems faced by the farmers in the state despite non-cooperation from the Centre.

Responding to the allegation of BJP leaders that farmers in Karnataka are committing suicide due to the negligence of the ruling party, Mr Khader said that when the CM brought the issue of sugarcane growers and loss of crops following hail stones in parts of the state to the notice of the centre, if did not respond.
Exhorting the farmers not to lose hope and refrain from resorting to extreme steps, he said that as per the direction of the CM, soon after the Assembly session all the ministers and MLAs of the ruling party in the state would visit the farmers in their respective constitutions.
Peace Disturbance
Condemning the efforts by communal forces to disrupt peace and harmony in Mangaluru and other parts of coastal Karnataka, Mr Khader urged the people to refrain from rumour-mongering and communal hatred.
The minister also urged the Mangaluru city police to take necessary steps to curb anti-social activities and maintain law and order in the region. He said that stringent action should be taken against those who try to disturb peace in the society and spread fear and violence.
Responding to a query on recent stabbing incidents in his constituency, Mr Khader said that he had already asked Mangaluru City Police Commissioner S Murugan to form a special team to curb such anti-social elements. “This is a serious issue. Police should not ignore this,” he added.
Modi Slammed
Taking on Mr Modi, the minister said that all Indians are not fool to entertain the lies and false promises. “Unlike Siddaramaiah-led Karnataka government, Modi-led ruling party at the Centre has completely failed to fulfill its pre-poll promises.
Slamming BJP for its double standard and bizarre U-turns, Mr Khader said that the same saffron party, which had pressurized the UPA government to end all ties with the neighbouring country, now shaking hands with Pakistani leaders amidst the continued ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops.
