Kasaragod, Nov 9: In the light of sporadic incidents of clashes reported from across the district in the aftermath of the recent local bodies’ polls, authorities here on Monday clamped prohibitory orders for three days on select police station limits.

The orders were clamped after reports of clashes at Keezhur, Kalanad, Kalluravi, near Kanhangad, Bandiyod, Seethangoli, near Kumbla, and Kubanur in the district. Superintendent of Police A. Srinivas visited the area and took stock of the law and order situation.
The police have registered 50-odd cases. The BJP’s Kanhangad office at Puthiyakotta locality was attacked.
Bike, house damaged
In another incident, a motorbike owned by a CPI(M) worker was found dragged into the sea at Meenappeese locality on Sunday night.
The CPI(M) alleged the hands of a group of BJP supporters who had reached the locality to attend a house warming ceremony.
In yet another incident, unidentified persons attacked the residence of CPI(M) Avikkara branch secretary A.K. Sasi Kumar on Sunday night causing extensive damage to the building.
Minor incidents of violence were also reported in Kanhangad and the hilly pocket of Panathady, the police added.
