Tumkur, Jun 24: A defence research scholar hailing from Delhi and working in Bangalore, went missing during a hiking trip in the Madhugiri mountain of Tumkur district on Sunday. With the help of his Smartphone he was rescued on Monday around 2am.

Priyank Sharma, 32 and Gowrav Arora, 35, heard about Madhugiri, a 3,900-foot monolith about 120km north of Bangalore and decided to climb it on Sunday afternoon. During the ascent, Gowrav got tired and decided to rest for a while, but Priyank Sharma moved on alone and reached the top of the mountain.
On reaching the top Priyank missed a route and fell down. Fortunately his was trapped in the bushes. But he was unable to move due to severe injuries. Priyank immidiately contacted Gaurav with his phone but he couldn't locate him quickly. Priyank even sent a photo of the aerial view from his location through WhatsApp.
Gowrav finally decided to hurry down to the base of the mountain and inform the police at night around 9pm. The local police along with the fire department finally rescued him with the help of the photo and by making continuous calls.
He was given first aid in the Madhugiri government hospital and then shifted to a hospital in Bangalore. He is now out of danger and is recuperating in the hospital.
