Mangaluru, May 12: A middle aged woman was killed while nine others suffered injuries when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus veered off National Highway 75 and plunged into a gorge in Golitottu near Nellyadi on the outskirts of the city.
The deceased has been identified as Dhanalakshmi (45), a resident of Mysuru, who was one of the passengers on board the ill-fated She died on the spot.
While five of the injured were treated at a private hospital in Mangaluru, four injured passengers were treated at the government hospital in Puttur, the police said.
They said the KSRTC Airavata bus had started from Mysuru and was on the way to Udupi via Puttur and Dharmasthala. The accident took place around 7 a.m. after the bus left Puttur and Uppinangady and was on the way to Dharmasthala via Nelyadi.
