Bengaluru, Nov 6: Anitha, the wife chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has become a legislator for the second time by registering a massive victory in Ramanagara assembly constituency bypoll.
Anitha had become MLA for the first time exactly a decade ago through a bypoll. She had got elected in the Madhugiri bye-election in 2008. However, she went on to lose in Channapatna in the 2013 Assembly polls and also the Lok Sabha polls in 2008 and 2014.
“People of the constituency have elected me because they wanted development. I don’t disappoint them,” said an elated Anitha.
She candidly admits that there were several problems in Ramanagara which was earlier represented by her husband.
“Ramanagara (district) was formed only in 2008. And Kumaraswamy was chief minister in 2006 and 2007. After that, he was not in power for 12 years. That's why this region seems to be lagging behind a little. But works have been sanctioned already and funds have been earmarked,” she said.
