Mangaluru, Jun 21: Social activist and AICC member PV Mohan has said that strengthening Hindutva agenda and weakening secular nationalism is the ultimate goal behind Narendra Modi government’s attempt to popularize International Day of Yoga.

Stating that Sangh Parivar is trying to stoke communal hatred among Hindus against minority community by raking up unnecessary controversy about Yoga, he called upon the people to vehemently oppose this.
He said that Congress supports yoga that aims at improving the health and wellbeing of people. But health and wellbeing of the people find no place in Modi led central government. A mere 1% of GDP has been allotted to health and wellbeing issues, Mr Mohan pointed comparing to USA which spends 8% of the GDP on health.
Questioning why does government not celebrate farmers’ day and Sangh Parivar oppose universalisation of Fathers' Day, Valentine's Day and World Environment Day, he said: “This reflects double speak of BJP led government.”
Modi government which has done nothing towards fulfilling promises made during election is making use of Yoga towards strengthening its Hindutva agenda, he added.
