Karwar, June 25: Mankalu Vaidya, zilla panchayat member from Bhatkal taluk, on Sunday refuted the allegation that he had incited violence at Mathadahitlu in Bhatkal taluk on June 8.

He told presspersons in Bhatkal that the disturbance at Mathadahitlu was due to the dispute between two communities and it had nothing to do with caste.

It may be recalled that a huge protest was held on Friday in front of the Bhatkal police station by the Namadhari community demanding the arrest of Mr. Vaidya for his alleged role in the violence.

Mr. Vaidya said that some forces worried by his popularity were trying to bring bad name to him and trying to give caste colour to the incident.
